Famous Freemason - Israel Brodie

"So Mote It Be."
The Chief Rabbi of Great Britain and the Commonwealth from 1948 to1965, Bro. Brodie served as a Rabbi in Melbourne Australia from 1923 to 1937.
During World War II, he was evacuated from Dunkirk, and finished the war as Senior Jewish Chaplain. Brodie had impeccable English connections and was an ardent Freemason, rising to the senior appointment of Grand Chaplain in the United Grand Lodge of England.
Brodie founded the Conference of European Rabbis and led the organization. He also took a significant part in rebuilding the religious life of European Jews after the Holocaust. He also presided over the post-war expansion of the United Synagogue, a union of all British Synagogues.
